About the Vietnam Institute of Psychology
Who we are
The Vietnam Institute of Psychology (VIP) is an evidence-based psychological institute providing psychotherapy, psychological assessment, school partnerships, and organizational psychology services in Vietnam.
We are a bilingual team of internationally trained psychologists and mental health professionals committed to ethical, developmentally informed, and culturally responsive care. We serve individuals, families, schools, and organizations seeking structured, high-quality psychological support.
Why VIP exists
Psychology in Vietnam is developing rapidly, yet access to internationally aligned assessment tools, ethical frameworks, and integrated care models remains uneven.
VIP was founded to help bridge global best practices with local cultural understanding. Our aim is not only to deliver services, but to contribute to the strengthening of professional standards, system-level capacity, and long-term psychological well-being in Vietnam.
Our standards
We operate according to internationally recognized ethical and professional guidelines.
Our clinicians use standardized assessment instruments and evidence-based treatment approaches. Reports and treatment plans are structured, practical, and decision-oriented.
We prioritize:
Confidentiality and informed consent
Clear diagnostic formulation
Collaborative care planning
Ongoing monitoring and follow-through
How we work
We take a systems-oriented approach grounded in psychological science.
Whether supporting a child in a school, a couple in therapy, or a leadership team in an organization, we look beyond individual symptoms or performance concerns. We consider relational patterns, environmental context, developmental stage, and institutional structures that shape behavior and well-being.
Our work integrates careful assessment, psychological formulation, and coordinated action. We clarify underlying dynamics, align stakeholders around shared understanding, and develop structured plans that are practical, measurable, and responsive to context.
We collaborate closely with families, educators, clinicians, and organizational leaders to ensure continuity of care and sustained impact over time.
Founding vision
VIP was co-founded by Nathan Gehlert and Lily Vo, combining clinical expertise with institutional and operational leadership. Together, they are committed to advancing high-quality psychological services in Vietnam and building an institute grounded in science, ethics, and cultural understanding.
Looking ahead
We see VIP as part of a broader effort to strengthen psychological standards and access to evidence-based care in Vietnam.
We will continue expanding partnerships with schools, organizations, and community stakeholders who value rigor, clarity, and long-term impact.
Our goal is not only to deliver services, but to contribute to the sustainable development of the profession.
We welcome inquiries from individuals, families, schools, and organizations.
