Hieu Tran, Cand.Psychol.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Tran Ngoc Hieu is a certified psychologist with experience in individual and group therapy. He completed a six-year professional psychology degree from the University of Bergen, Norway, and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Oslo. Drawing on psychodynamic, relational, and experiential approaches, Hieu supports clients in exploring emotions, strengthening relationships, and fostering resilience. Grounded in both Western and Vietnamese traditions, he offers a perspective shaped by two cultures, guiding clients through questions of identity, belonging, and adaptation with sensitivity and depth. He is a member of the Norwegian Psychological Association and the Group Analytic Society International.

Huong Vo, Psy.D.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Huong Vo, Assistant Professor at Angelo State University, originally from Vietnam, moved to Texas for her M.A. in Counseling Psychology at Angelo State and later earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Vo focuses on psychological assessment and therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults. Certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, she also uses neurofeedback and QEEG brain mapping. Committed to clinical practice, she values teaching and mentoring future clinicians. In her free time, she enjoys reading, nature, and quality time with family and friends.

Nathan Gehlert, Ph.D.

CLINCAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR, CO-FOUNDER

Dr. Nathan Gehlert is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and academic leader with 18 years of clinical and teaching experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and serves as a psychology professor at Fulbright University Vietnam.

His work spans psychotherapy, multicultural counseling, professional training, and organizational psychology, including leadership development and workplace consultation. Drawing on evidence-based practice and cross-cultural expertise, he works with individuals, families, schools, and corporate partners to strengthen psychological health in the Vietnamese context.

As co-founder of the Vietnam Institute of Psychology, Nathan is committed to building clinical capacity, advancing professional standards, and expanding access to ethical, high-quality psychological services across Vietnam.

Trang Bui Ha, Specialist (Clinical Psychology)

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Trang (Jane) Bui Ha (she/they) provides psychotherapy for adolescents and young adults experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and autism. Her work integrates trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approaches, with careful assessment and individualized, evidence-based care tailored to each client’s context.

In addition to her clinical practice, Trang has experience in school settings, collaborating with parents and educators to support students’ emotional, cognitive, and social development. She is committed to gender- and sexuality-affirming practice and works extensively with LGBTQIA+ and gender-diverse clients. Trang completed a six-year Specialist degree in Clinical Psychology at Russian State Social University in Moscow.

Bam Bam

THERAPY DOG

Bam Bam is a five-year-old Corgi who may be present in selected sessions at the Vietnam Institute of Psychology. For some clients, particularly children, her calm and friendly presence can help create a more relaxed and supportive environment.

Clients may request that Bam Bam join their session when appropriate. Her role is to offer gentle companionship within the structure of a professionally guided therapeutic process.

Lily Vo

CEO, CO-FOUNDER

Lily brings extensive experience in scaling domestic and international enterprises, with a focus on sustainable growth and strategic partnership development. She has a strong track record in team building, operational leadership, and aligning organizational systems to support long-term impact.

After years of leadership in the health and beauty industry, Lily turned her focus toward mental health, recognizing the need for strong organizational infrastructure to support psychological services in Vietnam. At VIP, she leads strategy, partnerships, and operations, ensuring that clinical excellence is supported by responsible growth and effective management.

Lily’s leadership reflects a commitment to building a stable, ethical institution that expands access to high-quality psychological care across Vietnam.
